Wally Yew left Hong Kong in 1960 to study at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. During his college years, he surrendered his life to Christ. And feeling compelled to pay his gospel debt to his second home, he entered Dallas Theological Seminary for ministry training.

Rev. Wally Yew served at Chinese Christian Mission as Associate General Secretary for 17 years, and later as CCM's Ministry Ambassador. An ability to see and call out the gifts of others, Wally built a close-knit team of coworkers at CCM serving through multi-faceted ministries of literature, training, and counseling, as well as local and foreign missions. In late 2011, Wally retired from CCM but continued to preach until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in mid- December 2014. God has used his preaching to bless churches throughout North America, Asia and Europe.

When Wally learned that he had terminal pancreatic cancer, he faced death with the same faith he had had in life. He said, “My faith in God helps me to understand that this physical body is not permanent. As believers, we are blessed to know that we have a resurrected body to look forward to. And the promise of being with God for eternity becomes more real and precious.”

Wally found solace in other promises of Jesus: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die (John 11:25–26).

And Jesus promised His disciples: Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many room; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going (John 14:1–4).

The essence of Wally's life is captured in his writings on his blog, dated March 2015, titled Amazing Grace.

“As Maryann and I pondered our lives together (a loving marriage of 47 years), we realize a common theme that has bound our lives together—God's Grace. It is God's Amazing Grace!

It's Amazing Grace that Jesus died for me. It's Amazing Grace that He accepted me just as I am.

It's Amazing Grace how Maryann and I met. It's Amazing Grace that He kept us faithful to each other.

It's Amazing Grace that He gave us two sons. It's Amazing Grace that He gave us the strength to bring them into maturity.

It's Amazing Grace that He has forgiven me, loved me, accepted me, and used me. It's Amazing Grace that God has used us in spite of our limitations, our weaknesses, and immaturity.

It's Amazing Grace that He has kept us faithful in His ministry. It's Amazing Grace that He has given us a crowd of witnesses to urge us on our Christian walk.
