Our beloved Rev. Thomas Wang, founder of Chinese Christian Mission (CCM) and also Challenger, went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2018, at the age of 92. Directors of CCM, coworkers, and missionaries share their sweet memories of this godly man.

Dr. Abraham Law, Consultant to the CCM Board:

"I knew Rev. Wang in 1961, the year CCM was founded. CCM had rented an old garage in Detroit, where Rev. Wang and his family lived upstairs and where we published and mailed our publications downstairs in the workshop. An old mimeograph machine was purchased, and each sheet was printed manually. Besides CCM’s literature ministry, Rev. Wang drove across the United States, evangelizing Americans and Chinese. He even organized the Chinese Christian Chorale to join in the evangelical tour. At a time of extreme lack of manpower and financial resources, Rev. Wang prayed with confidence, and he ultimately saw God’s timely supply and amazing guidance. Rev. Wang was a hardworking, energetic, and dedicated servant of the Lord!"

Rev. Cecilia Yau, CCM Ministry Ambassador:

"In less than a year after joining CCM in 1974, I was fortunate to serve as Rev. Wang’s assistant as he prepared to establish CCCOWE (Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism). For one year, I had the chance to closely watch and know this man of great foresight, yet a down-to-earth leader. In a generation when relationships were sometimes broken, Rev. Wang saw the importance of “bridging.” Worldwide Chinese Gospel Center, the Lausanne Movement, and the AD2000 and Beyond Movement are bridging work. He worked energetically with amazing perseverance and drive to fulfill God's calling in his heart."

"Rev. Wang was a man who wanted to do great things, yet he was loyal in the small tasks. Once, when I was posting stamps on a batch of letters, he told me that the stamps must be posted neatly, because the letters represented my work and the image of CCM. From that day on, I did everything with special care. Rev. Wang loved his colleagues and valued each and every one. As a boss, when he returned from a speaking tour, he would bring back some special local products or gifts for us. He also cared for our families."

Rev. Siuwan Ho Ma, CCM missionary to Northern Thailand:

"In 1997, Rev. Wang visited me in Northern Thailand. During the 12-hour night trip to Bangkok, the air conditioning was so cold it made me curl up, so Rev. Wang gave me his blanket. Another time, when I visited him in Singapore, he gave me pocket money. In the United States, when he knew I was suffering from knee pains, he gave me supplements for my knee."

During his entire life, Rev. Thomas Wang gave his best to the Lord. He left us with many memories and a valuable spiritual legacy. May God strengthen us and help us learn from his excellent example to carry out God’s ministry with all our heart and might.
