Lord, Teach Me to Pray
By Dominie Soo Bush
After Mother passed away, I was going through her diaries and found something she had written about prayer. She noted that the Lord gave her the words on July 30, 2008, when she was 86.
“LORD, TEACH ME TO PRAY”
by Clara Dawidiak Soo
I said I would pray…but did I? Lord, teach me to pray…
FOR…THE ONE WHO IS SUFFERING.
FOR…THE TWO PLEDGING “FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE.”
FOR…PARENTS DEDICATING THEIR INFANTS.
FOR…PARENTS TO BRING UP CHILDREN ACCORDING TO GOD’S WORD.
FOR…A FRIEND’S STRAY CHILD.
FOR…MY SPIRITUAL LEADERS.
FOR…THE ONE BEHIND BARS.
FOR…THE ONE GRIEVING A LOSS.
FOR…THE DEACONS I JUST LAID HANDS ON.
FOR…A HARVEST OF SOULS.
FOR…OUR NEXT-DOOR NEIGHBOR.
FOR…OUR FAITHFUL PASTORS.
FOR…OUR GOVERNMENT LEADERS.
FOR…THE AGED AND LONELY.
FOR…OUR MISSIONARIES.
FOR…THE SUFFERING SAINTS AROUND THE WORLD.
FOR…THE GRADUATES BEING THRUST INTO THE UNKNOWN.
FOR…PEACE AMONG NATIONS.
FOR…MY CHURCH FAMILY.
FOR…THE ONE SEARCHING FOR GOD.
FOR…THE WIDOW, THE POOR, AND THE HUNGRY.
FOR…THE BRAVE ONES PROTECTING US.
FOR…EACH MEMBER IN MY FAMILY.
FOR…GOD’S WORD TO SPEAK TO ME PERSONALLY.
FOR…ME NOW AS I AM CHALLENGED TO PRAY… AS PROMISED.
“LORD, TEACH ME TO PRAY!”
Mother was born Clara Dawidiak in 1921, in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants. She was a faithful prayer warrior and servant of God. As a young woman, she attended Washington Bible College in Washington, D.C., and for many decades taught Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs, Sunday School, and Children’s Church.
She married her beloved husband, John Soo, in 1950—my father. They had two children—me, their daughter, Dominie, and a son, Daniel.
In 2020, my mother, at the age of 99, went to be with the Lord.
Mom died, but through her faith, she still speaks.
Dominie Bush is a piano teacher and church pianist in St. Augustine, Florida. She and her husband, Don, attend Community Bible Church.
